Dudley Mass. - Just before 10:30 pm on Sunday, July 3rd, South Worcester Communications Center (SWCC) received multiple calls reporting a structure fire at 37 Schofield Ave in the town of Dudley. The first unit to arrive reported heavy smoke and fire showing from the outside of the building and requested a working fire assignment, bringing in off-duty personnel as well as firefighters from surrounding towns. As firefighters attempted to search for occupants, that could possibly be trapped in the structure, they were met with unstable flooring on the second floor which hindered their search efforts. Firefighters made quick work of the fire on the outside of the building but the interior fire took over an hour to extinguish. The fire reached 2 alarms bringing in responders from both Massachusetts and Connecticut.

One firefighter was transported for non life-threatening injuries according to the Dudley Fire Department.

It is unclear if there were any other injuries at this time.

The state fire marshal office has been requested to assist with the investigation of this incident
